Did anyone else have heightened attachments to inanimate objects as a kid?

When I was little I always felt really bad for inanimate objects (especially toys/stuffed animals) if they got mistreated or thrown out or whatever, idk why it’s probably some empathy development malfunction lol but I’ve also always been more sensitive to mistreatment of animals than the average person I feel and sometimes I wonder if the two are connected. Not that nonhuman animals are remotely comparable to inanimate objects, but the way society teaches us about them (sans dogs and cats of course) sometimes makes it seem like we’re supposed to view them as such. Now that I write this out it seems like a dumb question since obviously people with more empathy are gonna extend that to animals too but I wonder if anyone else has noticed that about themselves 🤔
