how do you typically cook tofu?

i dont have a deep fryer so id usually cut tofu into cubes and try frying it in oil, but then id have to individually turn it to each side and its harder to get it all evenly cooked and not still soft, especially when i cook a lot. is this just something to get used to or is there a secret trick im missing?
