I “vegan-ized” a bolognese sauce with Impossible burger and Beyond Italian sausages…and, er…
Hello: I am attempting to make the shift to a plant-based diet. I took one of my fave recipes from a Youtuber I like, Nat's What I Reckon (has a lot of recipes, a couple can be easily made vegan), and tried to "veganize" his bolognese.
8 oz Impossible ground "meat"
Beyond Meat hot Italian sausages, 4 with casings removed
Morningstar Crumbles, about 4 oz
300gm tomato paste
10 oz red wine
2 c veggie stock
vegan butter substitute
2 carrots diced
2 celery stalks, diced
salt and pepper
1 cup soy milk
Now, I really liked a grilled Impossible burger that I had at Burger King and at a local vegan restaurant; very tasty. But this time…the whole damn pot of sauce smells like dog food? Bleh. Put me right off.
If anyone has any ideas for making a "vegan bolognese", please let me know; I think I've seen a couple recipes for lentil sauces?
