My jackfruit always has a lingering “jackfruit” taste, unlike in restaurants. How do I get rid of it?
Jackfruit in restaurants always tastes like whatever it's been cooked in, but my jackfruit meals at home always have a particular taste that I can't get rid of. How do you get rid of that taste?
I cook jackfruit in different recipes, but the basic steps I take are:
- Rinse off brine, chop
- Cook for 10 mins in a pan on the hob, possibly with onion
- Add other ingredients
- Cook for longer in the pan, or move to the oven.
My thoughts are that maybe I need to cook it longer, both in a pan and in the oven, and perhaps even dry it out in the oven on its own. I think that pummeling it in a food processor might also help, to get all the brine out so it can be evaporated.
